Hugs to all! I know everyone wants to be all "aware" this month and I think someone said it best when they said first? Be aware of the feelings of autistic people. They do have them.
The way some people go on about it, you wouldn't think they did. Mrs. C., it took me a while to grow up and figure that out, too. Anyhow...a couple of young kids could use some good, healing thoughts sent their way. Life can be very hard, and we forget that when we are caught up in our own little lives, you know?
Yes. I only have heard glimmers of the situation, but don't need to know more to pray for them, wish them well and do my part not to spread rumours/repost their writings without permission as I have heard has been happening.Peace to you and your friends. :)
No,no,no...it's nothing like that. Read Kassianes page about her childhood abuse. You can read it here if you like: http://timetolisten.blogspot.com/2012/04/autism-child-abuse-both-for-april-oh.htmlAnd I don't know if you know Hyper Aspie, who lives in Australia...I read her latest post. She is a part of a boat race team. One of the partners on the boat died of a heart attack right in front of her eyes. Tomorrow is her 24th birthday. Life can be so overwhelming!Kassiane has been treated poorly by a lot of parents because she has ALWAYS stood up for the children, and their acceptance as children. I've known "of her" for years, but not personally to any degree. Autism Speaks did use her, some of her words, for their own purposes, in their "autism kit". I don't remember what happened but they removed it, and rightfully so. They are opportunists extraordinaire. I don't believe she had even been informed before they did it, and she doesn't agree with much they do.Mrs. C, I just couldn't tell Kassiane how sorry I was that she had to suffer as child..."to her face". What she wrote was so deep I was afraid I would offend her somehow. Not on purpose. Made me appreciate my upbringing so much more, and realize how lucky I was to have such a gentle, loving mother.Oy, we can all use good wishes and prayers, but these kids are so young...
