I have a new picture. Sorry, I know the squirrel was cuter. Now, I've got a scarlet zero on my forehead to show the world I have zero degrees of empathy, just like Dr. Simon Baron Cohen says. If you are autistic, or even sorta autistic-lite like me--I have my good days and my bad depending on how others treat me--you must warn the world you are an emotional monster, who sees others as bags of skin draped over chairs.
Cool, huh? Really, it's kind of scary.
In reality...you know, where most of us besides some psychiatrists we will not mention live...it makes me so angry to think someone is dropping this badness on our kids. Ben isn't perfect, no one is. But I see him with the eyes of love. I believe whatever he becomes is because of who he is, and how he was raised. Remember when that other nut-case blamed refrigerator mothers? What's the difference? Bruno Bettleheim was crazy. He believed just nutty things, mostly about breasts and mothers and feces. Of course, my son's problems are due to his birth mother. All she had to do was touch him at birth, and the evil entered his body then, according to Bettleheim. Scientists, particularly psychiatrists, believed it. So much for research...modern voodoo, my husband used to call it.
Help our kids to help themselves. Don't label them and throw them away. You are one sick puppy, Dr. Cohen, and I wish I could forget about you. But as your craziness bleeds into the news and is accepted as truth, as the "World's expert on Autism"--you don't suffer. They do.
According to your tests, all you say is true. These are tests you created. One day I am going to create a test that shows that "world experts" have maniacal tendencies. Would you take it?

I feel pretty gloomy after he's done the rounds, however on the other hand Woman's Hour [BBC] had an article yesterday about under counted autistic women which was much more inspiring. I'd do the linky thing but I've forgotten how.
